BRENDIDAS : BRENDAHASHTAG'S ADIDAS SHOE COLLAB

You did in fact read that correctly, miss Brenda Weischer (we know her as @brendahashtag) has announced today her upcoming shoe collaboration with none other than Adidas. For those of you that don’t know her, Brenda is a German cool girl basically, who splits her time between Berlin and NYC, works as a creative consultant, fashion writer, curator and influencer.
This collaboration means way more than just another name slapped on a shoe to make sales, if you follow Brenda, you know her personal brand ethos and aesthetic and the shoe completely reflects it. It’s obviously still a classic Adidas shape but the details and complete black on black design makes it very personal to her style.

Not to be a basic girl on her platform praising miss Brenda but I do honestly think she has paved a stunning career path for herself, I love her authenticity and lack of fluff when it comes to any fashion conversation. She knows her shit but most importantly knows her worth which in this industry can be tricky and even trickier to truly stand behind your boundaries and not be swayed to be anything else other than yourself, and she has done that.

​I admire her yes, but as a girly that has been on the market for a new cool everyday sneaker that’s not massively overdone and can still fit a budget but be something more meaningful I think I found my next purchase.
Let’s talk about the shoe itself. It’s a classic Adidas silhouette, the Superstar, but with an all black design, including the sole, laces, lining and stripes. The black leather body of the shoe has this slightly matte “melted plastic” almost look that I adore, the toe and sole stay classic but the super thin cord-like laces add such an intricate feel since it gives the shoe a fragile element while being structured and edgy.

Also, the fact that the she was able to remove the visibly commercial 3 stripes and left the shoe with their dark whisper makes this an even cooler piece. Truly, simplicity in it's most nonchalant elevated form.
As of now, we don’t know anything else about the release other than her having an in person event in Berlin the 13th of this month (Adidas Originals Store, muenzstrasse 13 from 19:30-22:00). But I’m sure this week will reveal some more information about this, in my opinion, very exciting and meaningful drop.

To end it off, I’m quite proud to see how someone who has a stark and powerful presence, who owns who they are completely and doesn’t succumb to industry bullshit has achieved such an accomplishment. It seems sometimes that being outspoken, imperfect and opinionated is a negative attribute when it comes to gaining industry favors and general success, but in this case I am very hopeful to see that true character and standing for something is being rewarded.
